B*MOVIE HEROES
Anthems For The Underdog

(Spank)

There is a popular school of thought that suggests you should never go back into a burning building. So seeing Neil Phillips return to his old band after the break up of the Yo-Yo's, it would be easy to suggest that this move was being made out of desperation rather than a desire to set the world to rights. After all, why leave in the first place?
But with 'Anthems For The Underdog' the B*Movie Heroes have managed to deliver an album packed with sun kissed melodies and jump-along anthems that have the power and the energy to make these guys real heavyweights in the live arena.
Taking the balls-out determination and introspection of Hot Water Music and meshing it with the feel good factor of the likes of [spunge] or A, this is an album that chases the weekend, questions the banality of everyday life, yet still remains optimistic throughout it all. Well worth investing in.

BIOGRAPHY

Dynamic, melodic, aggressive yet subtle, the UK's leading cult rockers are dug in for the fight. Unconcerned with being part of a scene or having a 'cool' category label for their music B*MOViE HEROES concentrate on what really matters...

And that's making music that means something to the people who want more. Much more, in fact, than the 'punk-by-numbers' drivel that's constantly forced down fans throats to the point of gagging. They say it would be all too easy to sing about shit that didn't matter, wear the same clothes as the man on TV, pull whacky faces just like all the other pretenders, have your fifteen minutes of fame and burn out as fast as you fell in, but when the song is your business and you see music as art not science, you soon learn that the flavour of the month always leaves a bitter taste.

Introducing the B*MOViE HEROES.....

Substance wins over style any day and where as B*MOViE HEROES proudly salute past masters such as The Clash and Elvis Costello (with a polite nod towards today's idols such as The Foo Fighters and Millencollin), it's their total disregard for fads and fashion that gives the band its own unique and very stylish sonic vibe. The overall effect is a striking explosion, simultaneously chaotic and focused, it's a display of melody and riffery that is ignited by a spark that no other band can claim to possess, something borne of a unique chemistry. The B-Movie Heroes are four, and this is who they are…

Guitarists / vocalists Dean and Neil eat, sleep, breathe and bleed classic songs, if ever anyone had a vocation and purpose to life, then these two have been lucky enough to find theirs early. Backed by the sweat fuelled pounding rhythm engine that is Scott and Russ, these four never fail to rattle most, if not all their audiences' fillings. Guitars draw influences from RATM's Tom Morello, U2's Edge and AC/DC's Young brothers. Bass lines are simple yet driving, allowing melodies to breathe with the odd Green Day style riff thrown in they're locked in tight with drums that are hammered to breaking point with a Dave Grohl / Tommy Lee style vibe. It all makes for a live show that works on many extremely appealing levels.

Wearing hearts proudly on sleeves our four heroes have scrapped and fought their way from the garage to the limelight. And they've done it in the kind of time that only raw talent allows you to i.e. pretty damn quickly. But that's not to forget the lessons learnt, mistakes made, injuries sustained and successes savoured that keep them moving forward, the kind of things that only make them stronger for the scars.

Wise enough to work any audience and still young enough to have a very long career ahead of them, tour after tour has honed the group into a very real threat for any headliner. Not surprisingly things are still snowballing for the band. Armed with two critically acclaimed E.P's (on UK underground label ChangesOne) the band have recently moved on to Spank Records for the release of their debut single 'Kid With A Temper' and debut album 'Anthems For the Underdog', which has been met with huge critical acclaim (see Press).

B*MOViE HEROES are taking on the world by playing it true and keeping it genuine. The noise these guys make is being heard all over your planet. Internationally, music fans and industry alike are sitting up and taking note, so they're pretty sure they know who's gonna win this one. Too many bands concentrate too hard on being cool and sadly the second you try too hard, you fall down - that's the way it's always been. Music that's made in labs, the kind that's scientifically assembled for mass appeal is still a hit and miss affair despite the thinking behind manufactured pop. Never settle for less than the real thing.

If you want unpredictable, uncompromising rock n roll played from the heart and for the heart, with an edge, with depth and you think you can catch a curve ball don't hesitate to check out B*MOViE HEROES. It would rock their boat, so to speak, to have you aboard.
